Anime Face Maker 2.0

>> 31 October, 2011

There's a buzz among my Facebook friends' primary photos, anime that is. These cute characters caught my attention and started praising them for a job well done for I thought they made it themselves, turns out was created from a flash generator :p

I present to you Anime Face Maker 2.0 developed by Gen8 from Deviantart. A fun, user-friendly, anime avatar making experience! Can be downloaded from her entry.

There's a wide range of attributes from each category for us to customize our avatar. It's quite fun because it reminds me of the Role Playing Games I used to play, both online and not. Be warned though, the majority here are female features so it's boo-hoo for us guys XD But don't fret dudes, we can still make this work :p

After you have finalized the total look of your avatar, you'll notice there aren't any 'Save' option. So like everybody else, you have to print screen, paste it to any picture editing software to crop then save.

Here are three anime avatars I made because one is not enough. And I have given them names. Yes, I'm obsessed with this :p

Oh-Wheezers' Anime Avatar
Sebastian Cloud

Oh-Wheezers' Anime Avatar
Tiger Star

Oh-Wheezers' Anime Avatar
Longtail Heart

Kawaii! XD

If there ever will be a version 3.0, I'm hoping for more male attributes... please? XD

Cartoonists Remember 9/11

>> 24 October, 2011

I went to the Cartoon Art Museum to see the '70 Years of Archie Comics' and 'Green Lantern' exhibits. Excited as I am got disappointed when I got there :(

Pictures are taken with permission from the staff.

Aside from the comic strips, I was expecting posters, life-size Archie, collectibles, and more stuff to read. Maybe it was bad for me to expect for this was a museum. Oh well, I just absorbed what was displayed and the other gallery of comic strips featured.

Anyway, I was moved to see a gallery at the back that shows the cartoon community's participation to remember 9/11. This, in respect, is its 10th anniversary.

Out of the 95 comic strips on the website, 28 of the comics shown below are the ones I'm familiar with, unfamiliar to, has clever and unique stories, and for me, has captured the move to remember the 9/11.

Mary Blair's concept art for Alice in Wonderland

>> 21 October, 2011

Mary Blair (October 21, 1911 – July 26, 1978) is a painter and concept artist for Disney in the 1940s and 1950s.

She is well-known for her concept art for Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Cinderella, and disney shorts such as Little House, Johnny Appleseed, and Susie, The Little Blue Coupe. Moreover, she helped design the "It's A Small World".

Today marks Mary Blair's 100th birthday. I didn't know who she was but thanks to Google's tribute doodle today, I found her. I am now a huge fan of her art especially the non-Disney related ones. Exhibit of her works were shown at the Cartoon Art Museum 2008 and the Walt Disney Family Museum 2010. Should have been this year :(

One of the best concept art she has made was for Alice in Wonderland not only because I love that film but her works are life-like. It shows a lot of her personality.

Thank you Mary Blair :)
