Mary Blair's concept art for Alice in Wonderland
>> 21 October, 2011
Mary Blair (October 21, 1911 – July 26, 1978) is a painter and concept artist for Disney in the 1940s and 1950s.
She is well-known for her concept art for Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Cinderella, and disney shorts such as Little House, Johnny Appleseed, and Susie, The Little Blue Coupe. Moreover, she helped design the "It's A Small World".
Today marks Mary Blair's 100th birthday. I didn't know who she was but thanks to Google's tribute doodle today, I found her. I am now a huge fan of her art especially the non-Disney related ones. Exhibit of her works were shown at the Cartoon Art Museum 2008 and the Walt Disney Family Museum 2010. Should have been this year :(
One of the best concept art she has made was for Alice in Wonderland not only because I love that film but her works are life-like. It shows a lot of her personality.
