My Global Warming Advocacy Ad

Okay so this was a project I submitted last week. We were to make an advocacy advertisement poster about certain issues happening in our surroundings.

Now as you all know, I'm such a pro-earth guy that an ad about the environment instantly sprouted from my mind :p

It made me remember all my lovable environment related blog entries such as Earth Hour 2009, Saving the Coral Triangle: Save Mother Earth!!!, and Mercy Mercy Me (the Ecology) also in the list are my rants such as Filipinos kills mother nature!!! and The Philippines should focus MORE on Mother Earth! :) Oh such sweet memories :)

Now back to the poster, I was thrilled when it was printed 'cause I've never printed any of my works in my entire life... 'til now.

It was such a relieving and magnificent feeling to be able to hold what I made. I was speechless. No words can ever describe it ;)

Jessica Cox: A licensed pilot without arms

Jessica Cox is an interesting Filipino-American motivational speaker 'cause she was born without arms - a rare congenital condtion that puzzled doctors. But that doesn't stop her from pursuing her dreams. In fact, she lives a pretty normal life with the support of her loving family, she can actually do anything from driving a car, to swimming, acquiring a black belt in Taekwondo, and graduating psychology from the University of Arizona.

Like how cool is that? :)

But what amazes me more is that she is a licensed pilot! Yup a professional aviatrix :) If Amelia Earhart was still alive, she would've been ecstatic to meet and see her fly an Ercoupe - one of the few light planes made and certified without pedals, thus, making Jessica free to use her feet as hands.

Truly inspirational :)

Missing the annular solar eclipse 2010

News have stated that there was a partial view of the annular solar eclipse in our country and was said to be the longest solar eclipse in duration since 1992. The phenomenon occurred this afternoon at 3:49 p.m. and ended at 5:51 p.m.

Now, an annular eclipse is when the earth, moon, and sun made a syzygy. But the actual size of the moon is smaller than the sun, hence, a bright ring, an annulus, surrounds the moon's outline.

But due to a cloudy sky with on and off drizzles, I missed the entire eclipse :(

*sighs*

Now let's learn more from a scientific approach about the Annular Solar Eclipse

An annular solar eclipse will occur on 15 January 2010 and will be the longest solar eclipse in duration since 1992. This eclipse will be visible from a track that goes across central Africa, the Indian Ocean and eastern Asia as shown in Figure 2. The maximum eclipse occurs in the middle of the Indian Ocean, but the annular phase will still be seen from either Africa or Asia.

In the Philippines, the event will be observed as a partial solar eclipse. Table 1 represents eclipse data pertaining to various selected places in the Philippines.

Iron Chef Bobby Flay and Fil-Am White House Executive Chef, Cristeta Comerford won Iron Chef America

Iron Chef America is a cooking battle show on a kitchen stadium that summons upon world-class chefs to a cook-off against either Iron Chef Bobby Flay, Mario Batali, Masaharu Morimoto, Cat Cora or Michael Symon. Each week, a secret ingredient is revealed to which both chefs would create 5 dishes in just one hour.

After the given time, the dishes are to be judged by three well-known guests. Both chefs are to present their dishes. Judging is based on presentation, originality and taste. Whoever scores the highest wins.

The season opening episode last January 3, 2010 features Iron Chef Mario Batali and Super Chef Emeril Lagasse facing off against Iron Chef Bobby Flay and Filipino-American White House Executive Chef, Cristeta Comerford.

Special guest, Michelle Obama welcomed the chefs and revealed the secret ingredient - the White House garden filled with vegetables such as fennels, collard greens, kale, rhubarbs, broccoli, watermelon and icicle radish, purple cauliflower and Japanese eggplant, to name a few.

Back to the cooking battle. Both teams did a splendid job to their dishes but only one would be named victorious, and that team was Flay and Comerford's. The taste criteria was a tie but the originality and presentation gave them a push over Batali and Lagasse's dishes.

Hawaiian Couple video remake by students

Last January 2, 2010, I made a blog entry about Humming Urban Stereo's Korean song entitled "Hawaiian Couple" that totally captured my heart and it still has. I'm so gonna memorize the lyrics :p

I then stumbled upon a video featuring students remaking the original music video which is uberly awesome 'cause the cuteness from the original is still present in their performance XD

You just gotta watch them :p

Mariah Carey's crazy acceptance speech

Mariah Carey, who was said to be drunk, made a blurry, weird, and undefined acceptance speech at the Palm Springs International Film Festival for winning the Breakthrough Performance Award in her role as a social worker from Director Lee Daniels' "Precious".

Mariah struggled real hard to explain things but she ended up with open sentences. "I have to say this is - and please forgive me because I'm a little bit um... yeah. Oh my goodness..." she added.

I guess Mariah's a bit... yeah! :p

Quiz: What Tarot Card are You? - Part 2

If you remember correctly, last June 2009, I took the "What Tarot Card are you?" online quiz and got a Magician Card which definitely suits me. Now I want to try my fortune again and see if I'll get the same card 'cause it has been months since I took the quiz. Besides, it's 2010 already with the Year of a Tiger - the sign I fall under.

I thought, everyone changes from inside out.. maybe I'll get a different card this time.. So why not try again?

And I got...

Idea, thought, spirituality, that which endeavours to rise above the material.

The Fool is the card of infinite possibilities. The bag on the staff indicates that he has all he need to do or be anything he wants, he has only to stop and unpack. He is on his way to a brand new beginning. But the card carries a little bark of warning as well. Stop daydreaming and fantazising and watch your step, lest you fall and end up looking the fool.

And so, like my first reaction to the Magician Card, I didn't quite absorbed the meaning of the Fool Card. But after reading online texts about it, I'm surprised 'cause it does tell what I've been going through these past weeks.

Now the Fool card has the number "0" that indicates a new beginning or to start of something he wants to pursue. With a happy and an easy going behavior, he knows what to do and has everything but the bottom line is he doesn't know where to go.

*Sighs* It's all true. I have tons of plans going through my mind but I can't seem to pin them down.

I have to do something...

My farm on Farmville

As you all know (or not), I'm an uber Farmville fan! Not an addict, just a fan. Refrain from raising your eyebrows please :p

I've been loving this game from the Zynga company since Ian encouraged, I mean forced me to play the game XD

At first, I was like, "NO WAY!!! Really? I have to do whaaat?!"

Indeed I was perplexed.

My initial reactions was Farmville is a huge pest in my life! It's time consuming to return to my account to plant, harvest, decorate, and plant more!

There was a moment that I don't want to care about my farm anymore and just let every plant wither but Ian persuaded me to continue to play the game 'cause not only was it addictive, it was actually fun.

And so it is.

I got used to the game, took care of my farm and each time I play, I concoct ideas to decorate and plan which plants to plant :)

Now, I want to show you what my farm looks like 'cause any day within this month, I'll be selling some Christmas decorations. I know they're adorable but it's already January :( Also, I'll do some minor adjustments, and slight rearranging.

Yep, that's my farm, a full 22 x 22 with a heap of Christmas Spirit. Look at those Poinsettias. Don't forget about the maze XD

Love the Santa's Workshop I got from the Mystery Box. Oh that's my character over there! :)

Extending more to my maze is a greenhouse together with a plant monster from Halloween's limited edition items. Also, there's my New Year Ball.

There's my hot air balloon I got from Farmville's first Anniversary. You can also see seven posts with an indication of mastered plants. According to master, namely, Watermelon, Eggplant, Potatoes, Squash, Artichokes, Pineapples, and Corn. Also visible in this picture is a lost Penguin :p

Hawaiian Couple by Humming Urban Stereo

Humming Urban Stereo (허밍 어반 스테레오) is a Korean electropop band that caught my ears 'cause of their distinct way of making music. It takes time to immerse with their songs which is a good sign 'cause musicians who do this knows their beat. They have created songs such as Honeymoon and DJMax from the DJMax Clazziquai Edition.

Hawaiian Couple is one of their songs I'm currently falling in-love to. The beat is simple but the lyrics is really touching. You can easily fit into the mood especially if you miss someone.

Now about the music video, the song together with the characters is part of the 내 사랑 (My Love) 2007 movie.
